Safety & Compliance
Dedicated Drivers…. Brilliant Service…. Coast-to-Coast Coverage
Safety is a priority for TruLine and our drivers. Before our drivers are available for placement, we conduct a thorough background check, compliance review, and drug screening to identify any potential safety risks. TruLine drivers are also required to participate in Smith System safety training and testing. Widely respected as the industry’s gold standard of safety, the Smith System prepares drivers to avoid accidents and practice safe driving techniques. CSA (Compliance, Safety, and Accountability) is the new Safety Measurement System (SMS) that measures the previous two years of roadside violations and crash data. With SMS, every inspection counts, not just out-of-service violations, and both driver and carrier safety performance are measured.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations state that “Every motor carrier, its officers, agents, representatives, and employees responsible for the management, maintenance, operation, or driving of commercial motor vehicles, or the hiring, supervising, training, assigning, or dispatching of drivers, shall be instructed in and comply.
Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety reducing crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicles.
In the development of the CSA program, FMCSA sought to incorporate several key attributes.
CSA is a more efficient and effective method for targeting the safety problems of both motor carriers and their drivers to reduce CMV crashes and fatalities. The success of this new effort requires the cooperation of many stakeholders like you: people at all levels within FMCSA, state partners, motor carriers, trucking associations, and the transportation industry. Here you will find information specific to your role in implementing CSA nationwide. Check these pages regularly for updates.

How can you ensure safety and compliance?
Check your SMS data online and, if incorrect, request a data review on the DataQs Website. When you check your online data, look for trends and areas that need improvement. Once you have identified these areas, look at your processes and pinpoint whether there are any factors contributing to your safety compliance problems. This page provides further information to help you implement CSA.
